This Is Your Time

As high school graduation quickly approaches for many in our community, may we be reminded of the foundation for which we all live and pass it on to our graduates. This past Sunday, Bro. Fred preached a message based out of 2 Timothy 3 where Paul is telling Timothy to "continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." In this passage of scripture, Paul is referring to Timothy's grandmother and mother who have taught him the scriptures throughout his childhood. My hope is that the same could be said for each of our graduating seniors that their minds and lives have been shaped by the Word of God through the teachings learned through family and First Baptist.

To all graduating seniors - this is your time and this is your defining moment. God did not choose to create you for any other time than for right now! What will you do with it? How will you define it? Who will you choose to live for? My prayer for each of you is for a faith in God that would not be shaken by continuing on in what you have learned and firmly believe. Congratulations to the class of 2010!
